MILAN – FC Internazionale Milano and Nike will mark the club’s presence into the elite European competition with a third kit inspired by two famous continental triumphs.
Inter will once again compete at the highest level this season, and their new kit pulls together elements of their iconic 1997-98 and 2009-10 jerseys – two campaigns in which the Nerazzurri reigned supreme.
As well as these nostalgic touches, the design boasts nods to 1990s jersey culture and a celebration of Inter’s long-running partnership with shirt sponsor Pirelli, which dates back to 1995.
The influence of the ’97-98 kit, worn by Brazil legend Ronaldo, is particularly strong with the return of a black silhouette, stylishly enlivened by bright yellow trim and detailing. Meanwhile, the shirt incorporates a crew-neck collar, as was the case in ’09-10 when the team won an unprecedented treble.
The ’90’s feel is heightened by a Nike ‘Futura’ logo and an all over black matte/shine jacquard pattern, with the club crest and the word ‘Inter’ subtly emerging from the fabric. Yellow trim on the collar and sleeves frames the jersey perfectly, while the colours used for the sponsor’s logo reference to the races world. Black shorts and socks complete the full look, with both featuring flashes of yellow, including the vintage Nike logo.
“Black and yellow is always a winning combination and Inter’s third kit looks especially dynamic,” said Pete Hoppins, Nike Football Apparel Senior Design Director. “We’ve taken inspiration from two special older kits, kept things on trend with the ‘90s themes we are seeing in streetwear at the moment and the result is something that we hope will appeal to all fans.”
